Painting Mandarian is part of my ongoing series called "Nal Sarovar". Nal Sarovar is the largest wetland bird sanctuary in India.This series is inspired by memories created during countless visits during my childhood.

Painting is done with the influence of the Madhubani style of Indian folk art. Madhubani style is one of the most colorful style of the folk art. The negative space is filled with flowers, animals, birds, and geometric designs.

I enjoy this style of folk art for portraying birds and animals as it gives me the freedom to use as dynamic of a pallet as possible.
